A new device created a German designer allows deaf people to “listen” to music, according to UberGizmo. The idea is being debated: is it seriously cool or really creepy?
The device, dubbed “Music for Deaf People”, is a collar that coverts audible sounds into vibrations that the brain interprets as “music”. Instead of hearing through your ears, you’ll be hearing through your skin, which sounds creepy at first.
However, we’re not sure whether it’ll handle vibrations from the external environment (airplanes, walking/running, etc.). It’s also still not certain whether this device will become a reality or not.

The iPhone 4G leaked just months ago, but those Chinese knockoff companies have already released a mobile phone that looks just like the new iPhone 4G.
I was surfing SoloMobi.com, trying to find an item that someone had noted to me, when I came across this little bugger. The official product name is “Fly-ying F073” (nice choice of name /sarcasm), and it boasts such features as the following:

The knockoff looks pretty damn accurate, too. The only problems I see after viewing a couple of images of the device are the misplacement of the buttons and the giant home button. It runs a fake iPhone OS (which is another flaw, as texts are not anti-aliased and the whole UI looks like a mess), and it even has a TV tuner.
JCXP reminds you to never buy knockoff phones of any model, because there are huge risks that the units may have flaws that can injure or even kill you. Remember that these products aren’t tested at all, and that includes the screen and battery.

Background/Introduction
If you’re an iPod fan, you know that there is no lack of iPod/iPhone accessories out there, and if you’re just looking for something that charges your iPod, and allows you to connect to speakers or a TV, you’ll do anything to avoid getting a Speaker Dock. Unboxing Unboxing the dock was not too difficult, but the cover of the box was quite deceptive. I almost thought that it was the wrong one, which was clearly not true. So what’s in the box? Universal iPod Dock IR Remote (with CR2025 Battery Installed) A/V Cable iPod Fillers (for iPod Mini/Nano, iPod 3G/4G – 20GB, iPod 4G – 20-40GB and iPod Video) Using the dock Setting up and using the dock is pretty straightforward, just pop it in (gently of course), plug in the USB Charging Cable (the one that comes with your iPod), and if you want an audio
Matias Duarte, the guy responsible for most of the webOS user interface (UI), has left Palm for…Google?
AllThingsD reports that Duarte left on his own decision, and he was leaving to go to Google and design for the Android mobile platform. It may become a huge problem for Palm, who was recently acquired by HP and is planning tablets. However, it’s a huge advantage for Google, who is obtaining a designer familiar with both true multitasking and multi-touch. Though Android 2.2 has these features, it may not be long before 2.2 is similar to webOS’s “card” design.
Before he worked at Palm, Duarte was responsible for creating the UI behind the (now defunct) carrier Helio. He was also responsible for most of the design of the Danger Hiptop (Sidekick).

Uh-oh, this could turn out ugly. The United States Department of Justice is investigating Apple’s iTunes Music store and the company’s tactics for promoting the service.
The antitrust inquiry by the DOJ regards Apple’s copyright exclusivity. For example, Apple is accused of forcing record labels to stay exclusive to the iTunes service, so these labels can’t submit artists’ music to other stores, like the highly popular Amazon.com MP3 store. Failure to adhere to these rules would cause termination of the label and its music from the iTunes store, the anonymous sources say. JCXP attempted to contact Apple for more information, but the company has not responded.
Apple’s iTunes Music Store is one of the most popular, holding about 27% of the online music marketshare. iTunes was launched in 2001, and has had quite a few legal battles regarding antitrust since then.
Will we see an iTunes ballot screen for choosing your music store next? Only time will tell.

We’ve heard from a credible source at HTC that the mobile device giant will continue to offer the Sense UI on their Windows Phone 7 devices.
Our source tells us that HTC plans on creating a UI over Windows Phone 7. The problem with this is that Microsoft has locked down Windows Phone 7 to the point where an alternate UI like Sense would be impossible. So how does HTC plan on doing this? Remember that “”partnership” HTC and Microsoft had a few months ago? We’re thinking that this may have something to do with it.
We’ll have more on this as we get it in.

One thing that irks me the most is when people misunderstand something, and post about it on their site, or some professional publication. Now I’m not one to jump the gun, but when someone says “Flash crashes on Android, this is why Apple doesn’t use it”, there’s one key element you’re missing here, and that’s the fact that Flash is nothing more then an entertainment and demonstration hub for desktop computers and laptops, and not mobile devices.
In an article posted by Stephan Constantinescu on IntoMobile suggests that “Steve Jobs’ letter about why Apple doesn’t support Flash on the iPad or iPhone is starting to sound rather accurate.” and failed to mention the fact that the version of Flash built into Android’s 2.2 release was nothing more then a mobile-ish version of the full Flash Player, the same thing that we see in our Windows, Mac and Linux machines, not any different. If there were a mobile optimized version of Flash, that would be a different story, but that is simply not the case.
One interesting notion, is the fact that in the demo, from PocketNow is the fact that the the guy is using 2 other devices that don’t use flash, and 1 that does, which doesn’t really emphasize the point.
Video and more after the break.

It never seems to amaze me when someone or something gets loose on the popular Social Networking site Facebook, well known for it’s ongoing battle with privacy, Facebook is yet again struck with another problem to deal with.
According to Mashable, a video titled “Distracting Beach Babes [HQ]” contains a Trojan which can be used to compromise your system. If you’re smart, and I hope you are you didn’t click on the link. If you did, ensure that you do a virus check, as well as a spyware check.
No reports have been made by Facebook officials to rectify this issue.

After a lot of turmoil that Facebook has been going through, several news sites report that there will be changes “soon” noting that the messages people have voiced are quite clear.
A Facebook spokesperson stated on Friday,
"The messages we’ve received are pretty clear," Andrew Noyes said. "Users appreciate having precise and comprehensive controls, but want them to be simpler and easier to use. They also like the new programs we have rolled out, but want simple and easy ways to opt out of sharing personal information with applications and Web sites."
One thing that most people have stated was the fact that the settings do not make sense, or that they are too sophisticated, they are apparently responding to this nothing that a little bit of simplification is in the works.
We’ll find out soon.

It’s no big surprise that the “Get a Mac” ads were going to end at some point, and according to TUAW, Apple has finally pulled the plug on the Television ads, noting that they have a different focus for the Mac.
Justin Long told A.V. Club about a month ago that he believed that the ad campaign would be seeing the door. Now, a month later, Apple has killed the ads, creating a web based campaign called “Why get a Mac?”, which can ironically be found at Apple’s website.
"You know, I think they might be done. In fact, I heard from John, I think they’re going to move on. I can’t say definitively, which is sad, because not only am I going to miss doing them, but also working with John."
